Villefranche, France

The following apply to all excursions:
-Guests are encouraged to bring credit cards or currency to purchase optional extras such as souvenirs.
-You should never feel that gratuities are expected from you. However, it is customary to leave a few extra Euros in recognition of service at restaurants, for taxis, and for exceptional excursion guides and drivers. It is always up to you as to what you feel is appropriate.

Cannes, Grasse and St. Paul (8.5 - 9 hours)
Enjoy fantastic views of the coastline during your 30-minute panoramic tour (approximate) from Villefranche to Nice on the Lower Corniche.
Continue along Nice's beautiful palm-lined Promenade des Anglais before joining the highway for the approximate 75-minute drive to Cannes.
Upon arrival, enjoy a walking tour of the elegant La Croisette Avenue where you can admire the famous hotels, shop along the Rue d'Antibes or walk up the steps of the Palais des Festivals—the central venue for the film festival that was first held in 1939 as a reaction to fascist interference in the Venice Film Festival.
Re-board your coach for a 45-minute drive to Grasse, where you will explore the birthplace of the French perfume industry on a guided tour of a factory, learning how such ingredients as flowers are boiled, processed, condensed and distilled into bottled scents. At the end of the tour, receive a special souvenir sample.
Next, drive to the the spectacular St. Paul de Vence, a medieval town set on a hilltop featuring narrow cobblestone streets, quaint boutiques and cafés. The city's monumental ramparts were nearly demolished in 1872, but centuries of history were preserved when the citizens of the village banded together to purchase them from the French government.
Enjoy a 45-minute guided tour and approximatly 105 minutes of free time for lunch and shopping on your own.

Highlights of Monaco & Monte Carlo (5 - 5.5 hours)
Take an approximate 45-minute drive along the Lower Corniche to Monaco.
Ride an escalator and elevator up the cliff and enjoy a 45-minute guided walking tour (wear comfortable walking shoes) passing by the Oceanographic Museum and Prince's Palace and an inside visit of the Monaco Cathedral. Note: This tour includes approximately 0.5 miles of walking at a steady pace, part of which will be on cobblestones and uphill. Note: Guests—including children—wishing to enter the cathedral must ensure that shoulders and knees remain covered. You can wear shorts that reach below the knee and tank tops, as long as you bring a sweater or scarf to wrap around your shoulders. Re-board your coach for a 15-minute drive along part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit.
Arrive at the coach parking area in Monte Carlo and walk approximately 15 minutes up to Casino Square, surrounded by immaculate gardens.
Enjoy 75 minutes of free time to shop, or browse the impressive range of top cars outside in Casino Square and enjoy a drink at Le Café de Paris (included in the tour price) before walking back to your coach.
Leaving Monaco, drive approximately 30 minutes along the Middle Corniche passing the medieval village of Eze, perched on a craggy peak above the Mediterranean, before driving back to Villefranche.
-Guests choosing to enter the Grand Casino between the hours of 9:00am and 12:30pm must note that an entrance fee of 10 Euros for adults and 7 Euros for children will be required. During this time, the Grand Casino is only open for visits and gaming is not allowed. Gaming is only allowed after 2:00pm (access is free) and Guests under 18 years of age are not permitted entrance, ID is required.
-Grand Casino attire should be tasteful, neat and clean. A jacket and tie are not required for men, but must be worn in the private salons. Long pants and a formal shirt are highly recommended. Jeans, Bermuda shorts and tennis shoes are not permitted. Only high quality flip flops are allowed.
-Cameras and video cameras are not permitted inside the Grand Casino.
-Wheelchairs (collapsible or electric) are not permitted. Tour operators will deny participation to Guests arriving in wheelchairs or electric scooters.

Highlights of Monaco and Top Car Museum (4 - 4.5 hours)
Take an approximate 45-minute drive along the Lower Corniche to Monaco.
Ride an escalator or elevator up the cliff and enjoy a 60-minute guided walking tour (wear comfortable walking shoes) including external visits of the Oceanographic Museum and Prince's Palace, which has served as the home of the royal family since the 13th century, and an internal visit of the Monaco Cathedral. Note: This tour includes approximately 0.5 miles of walking at a leisurely pace, on flat and uphill ground.
Re-board your coach for a 30-minute drive to Fontvielle, where you will find the Prince of Monaco's private collection of classic cars. Visit the museum's collection of approximately 100 automobiles and carriages from all around the world, including some extremely rare pieces. The majority of the collection is not dictated by value or scarcity but by the Prince's personal taste—including an array of beautifully restored classic post-war American automobiles.
Catch a few additional spectacular views on the approximate 45-minute return journey to Villefranche.

Hiking and Picnic (5 - 5.5 hours)
Meet your guide and drive approximately 30 minutes towards the Fort de la Revere Park, a fortified military reserve, turned national nature park. The park spreads over chalky plateaus edged with cliffs that offer circular panorama views of the county. This is one of the last areas having typical vegetation of ecosystems of the Maritime Alps.
Upon arrival, have a short stop at the Fauna and Camp of Bird Migration of the Revère Fortress, before starting your hike. Begin your approximate 105minute hike along nature trails that wind up and through the hillside. Be on the lookout for eagles, owls, grand ducks, boars, rabbits, badgers and foxes, which are prevalent in the area.
Back at the starting point, you will find a full picnic lunch spread out for your enjoyment. Lunch may include: baguettes, a selection of cold meats and cheeses, quiches, tapenades and fresh fruit.
After lunch, board the motorcoach for your return trip to the pier.

-A bottle of water will be included at the start of the hike. It is recommended to bring additional water if you desire.

Magnificent Villas of the Riviera (3.5 - 4 hours)
Meet your guide and board the air-conditioned vehicle for the approximate 15-minute drive to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
Discover this French Riviera seaside palazzo from the inside. A luxurious look at the recreation of an ancient Greek villa. At the edge of the sea, facing the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, the villa is an exquisite place that takes you back in time. Entirely furnished and decorated, the villa's many rooms bear witness to the art of living and refinement in ancient Greece.
After your approximate 60-minute visit and tour, board your bus and drive to Cap Ferrat, one of the most exclusive places on the Côte d'Azur and the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. This villa was constructed between 1905 and 1912 for Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild. She commissioned her rose-colored villa overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and filled the mansion with antique furniture, old master paintings, sculptures, objects of art, and assembled an extensive collection of rare porcelain. The gardens are classified by the French Ministry of Culture as one of the Notable Gardens of France.
Tour the villa and its splendid gardens, and admire the gorgeous view. Refreshments will be served in the tea room overlooking the 2 bays of Villefranche and Beaulieu sur Mer.
Board your bus and take the short drive back to the pier.

Only the ground floors of the Villas are wheelchair accessible. At Villa Rothschild it will be possible to access to the tea room and the terraces. No wheelchair access to the upper level.

Drive back to Villefranche along the Middle cornice.

Eze, Nice and French Wines (5 - 5.5 hours)
Start your approximate 30 minute, fully-narrated drive to Eze via the Lower and Middle Corniche. Upon arrive to the village of Eze, you will be guided on a walk through the narrow streets of the medieval town.
Marvel at the old houses while climbing up the steep and winding cobblestone paths. Every corner hides architectural beauty and offers a glance into history. The climb is worth it, offering unique views and photo ops of this charming town. After the guided walk you will have approximately 30 minutes of free time for wandering on your own or shop for souvenirs. Note: This excursion includes approximately one mile of walking and standing on cobblestone, flat and uphill surfaces.
Return to your vehicle and continue on to Nice, located approximately 30-minutes away, and drive along the famous Promenade des Anglais. Upon arrival, your guide will lead you on an approximate 60-minute tour to discover some of the most charming corners of this multi-cultural town. Photograph beautiful squares and Italian-style buildings as you walk the Cours Saleya and explore the flower markets. (Monday tours will visit the antique markets.)
Arrive at Cave Bianchi for your wine tasting and listen to the owner narrate the history of the family property. Continue to the tasting room for a presentation of 3 wines accompanied by canapés. Wine and canapés are paired to highlight the flavors of each.
Children will have an explanation on different colored grapes and a delicious tasting of white Muscat grape juice and red Cabernet grape juice accompanied with a piece of local cake with honey.
With a big smile, a new friend and maybe a few bottles of wine, return towards the port of Villefranche.

Take a 30-minute panoramic tour (approximate) along the Lower Corniche from Villefranche to Nice.
Stop for 60 minutes in charming Old Nice for a stroll on the Cours Saleya towards the colorful flower and fruit market (this is substituted with an Antiques Market on Mondays).
Re-board your coach, for a 30-minute drive to the medieval village of Eze.
A 3-course lunch (included in the price of this tour) will be served in a local restaurant at the foot of the village.
After lunch, take a 30-minute drive (approximate) to the Rock of Monaco.
Ride an escalator and an elevator up the cliff and enjoy an informative guided walking tour of the exteriors of 3 famous sites—the Oceanographic Museum, the Monaco Cathedral and the Prince's Palace, which has served as the home of the royal family since the 13th century.
Then re-board your coach for a 15-minute drive passing along a section of the Formula 1 Grand Prix Race Circuit. First run in 1929, the Grand Prix is world famous for its challenging circuit running through the twisting streets of Monaco.
Next, follow your guide for the 15-minute walk from the bus parking area to Casino Square, surrounded by immaculate gardens.

Nice and Train Tour (4 - 4.5 hours)
Enjoy fantastic views of the coast and sea on your 30-minute panoramic drive (approximate) from Villefranche to Nice on the Lower Corniche.
Continue your sightseeing tour of Nice's famous landmarks including the palm-lined Promenade des Anglais, the legendary rococo Negresco Hotel, the beautiful Regina Hotel, the villas on Cimiez Hill, the Franciscan Monastery, the Roman arenas and the Russian Orthodox Cathedral—built with pink bricks, light gray marble and vividly colored ceramic domes by direct order from the last Russian Czar, Nicholas II.
Board an open-air tram shaped like an antique train for a leisurely one-hour narrated tour of the city. Travel through narrow streets in the Old Town, passing the popular Flower Market before ascending Castle Hill Park for an excellent view of the city and the bay.
Enjoy a beverage and approximately 75 minutes of free time at the Cours Saleya in the Old town of Nice to shop or sightsee. Note: The amount of walking is at your discretion during free time; however, on average, this tour includes approximately 0.5 miles of walking at a leisurely pace, part of which will be on cobblestones and/or uphill.

Panoramic Drive & Monaco Rock (4 - 4.5 hours)
From Villefranche, your tour begins with a panoramic drive along the Middle and Grande Corniche, enjoying views of Beaulieu, Cap d'Ail, Monaco and beyond to the Italian border.
Arrive at Monaco, where your coach will park a short walk from the heart of Old Town. Note: This tour includes approximately 0.5 miles of walking at a steady pace, part of which will be on cobblestones and uphill.
Once you reach the top, your guide will take you on a 60-minute walking tour through the narrow streets past the Oceanographic Museum and the Cathedral containing the tomb of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III. Then enjoy an inside visit of the Grimaldi Castle, once the home of Grace Kelly.
Return to the coach for a short drive to Monte Carlo along a part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix Circuit.
Return to Villefranche via the Lower Corniche for a closer look at the beautiful resorts which dot the coastline.

Saint Paul de Vence (4 - 4.5 hours)
Meet your guide and board your air-conditioned vehicle for an approximate 60-minute narrated, sightseeing drive of Nice. You will drive through town, passing the famous Promenade des Anglais and head inland toward Saint Paul de Vence.
Perched high upon a cliff, Saint Paul de Vence is the quintessential fortified town of Provence, and its ramparts are still amazingly intact. Enjoy an approximate 90-minute guided walking tour along the narrow cobblestone streets and discover the magnificent stone façades, shady squares and ancient fountains. Note: This excursion includes approximately 30 minutes of walking and standing on cobblestone, flat and uphill surfaces. Saint Paul de Vence is a village located on the top of a hill and large vehicles are not able to access. Therefore, Guests have to walk about 10 minutes on uphill and paved surfaces to enter the Old Quarter.
You will have approximately 30 minutes of free time to explore the village's boutiques and art galleries, or simply relax in one of the quaint cafés at your leisure. Painters such as Amedeo Modigliani, Paul Signac and Chaim Soutine met at a local café, which has since become La Colombe d'Or.
Return to Nice via the seaside route.

Continue to Vista Palace, a strategic vantage point with spectacular views of the panorama of coastline stretching east from the Italian border all the way west to Monaco. Make a quick stop to take photos (traffic permitting).
Next, join the Grande Corniche at an altitude of nearly 1,600 feet, past the village of La Turbie en route to the medieval town of Eze, perched on a peak high above the Mediterranean.
Stop for approximately 45 minutes to enjoy a beverage and taste a piece of Socca, a local delicacy made of chickpea flour.
Continue along the Middle Corniche for a 20-minute drive (approximate) to Nice and enjoy the panorama extending from the tip of Cap d'Ail to the Esterel.

The Perfumer's Apprentice in Eze (4 - 4.5 hours)
Board a coach for a scenic 30-minute drive (approximate) along the magnificent Middle Corniche of the French Riviera before arriving at the medieval walled village of Eze.
Arrive at the Fragonard factory and begin by testing your nose; will you be able to identify fragrances such as Provencal lavender, fruity watermelon, sweet Lily-of-the-Valley and decadent chocolate?
Next, you will create your own Eau de Cologne, carefully blending scented and exotic fragrances, choosing between a floral, spicy or fruity. The result will be unique and original, as you will personalize the blend to match your own sensitivity.
At the conclusion of the workshop, each adult will receive a 50 ml bottle of your newly created masterpiece and a diploma certifying that you successfully attended the training course. Children will receive soap and a diploma.
Finish your perfume experience with a guided tour of the perfume factory and some time to browse the on-site shop.
Complete your afternoon with a 30-minute guided walking tour and approximately 30 minutes of free time to explore the magical city of Eze. Enter the ancient fortifications and experience what life was like hundreds of years ago as you stroll along the picturesque cobblestone streets. Re-board your coach for an approximate 45-minute drive to the Rock of Monaco. On your way, you'll have views of the medieval village of Eze, nested on a hill top, it known as the eagle's nest.
Arrive in Monaco and ride an escalator and elevator up the cliff. Enjoy an informative guided walking tour of the exteriors of 3 famous sites—the Oceanographic Museum, the Monaco Cathedral and the Prince's Palace, which has served as the home of the royal family since the 13th century.
Then re-board your coach for an approximate 15-minute drive passing along a section of the Formula 1 Grand Prix Race Circuit. First run in 1929, the Grand Prix is world famous for its challenging circuit running through the twisting streets of Monaco.
Next, follow your guide for the 15-minute walk from the bus parking area to Casino square, surrounded by immaculate gardens.

White River Rafting (7 - 7.5 hours)
Take a scenic 90-minute drive (approximate) aboard a mini bus to Puget Theniers in the Sea Alps. Travel to Nice and along the Promenade des Anglais before reaching the national road and your destination. Note: Guests should be in good physical condition to participate.
Upon arrival, receive a comprehensive safety briefing and instructions including a compulsory lifejacket. Note: Guests must be able to swim.
Descend the Var River in a boat selected according to the water level at the time of your tour. Your descent will take approximately 2 hours, including several stops along the way.
Arrive in Touët sur Var and enjoy a light lunch.
Take the approximate 90-minute drive back to Villefranche.
