January 2, 2007 - Santa Monica

Welcome to Day 2 of the Dreams Unlimited Travel Video Trivia Challenge.

We continue our tour of Southern California from the Santa Monica Pier. Also known as “the finish line” for the famed Route 66, this landmark has been used in a number of films and television shows over the years. The pier was built in 1909, and since then it has been a destination for tourists and locals alike. The Hippodrome Carousel featured in today’s trivia challenge was also responsible for saving the Santa Monica pier from destruction in 1973. By having the Hippodrome and it’s carousel certified as National Historic Landmarks, the residents of Santa Monica successfully prevented the city from tearing it down.
