Boat Ride to Zingaro Park

Set sail along the Sicilian coast amidst the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

You'll embark from Palermo to captivating Castallamare del Golfo. Along the way you'll pass olive trees, lush vineyards and verdant hillsides. Once you arrive at your destination, you'll board a small yacht and set sail on a memorable journey along the Sicilian coast. Among your stops are the beautiful Cala Bianca and Cala Rossa bays. Another stop is the popular Grotta dei Colombi, a grotto famous for its legions of pigeons. Next you arrive at the Natural Reserve of Zingaro and the Cala Marinella Cove. Mondello Beach

This excursion combines history, sun, surf and sand. You'll see what Europe's elite discovered when you arrive at Mondello Beach which was once the favored destination of the rich and famous. Here you'll find the perfect meeting of sparkling blue waters, majestic mountains and lush hillsides. While there, make your way to the bathing establishment of Lo Stabilimento Charleston. Selinunte and Marinella

Sights of Palermo

Your excursion begins with a 50 minute air-conditioned motor coach trip along the Sicilian coastline to Porta Felice which dates back to the 16th century. You'll drive through the Via Liberta known for its beautiful theater, the Teatro Politeama and the Teatro Massimo. You'll next head to the Palazzo Reale and the city square at Piazza Marina.

The walking tour begins at the Piazza Bologni, with its beautiful Baroque palaces and memorial to Emperor Charles V. Here you'll find the "Four Corners" intersection. This famous landmark features four statues depicting the four seasons, four statues of Spanish Kings and four statues representing four female patron saints. The beautiful Martorana Church is a blend of Arab-Normal styles. The interior features brilliant mosaics along the walls and altar.

From the church you'll next visit the Cathedral at Palermo which dates back to the 12th century. The combination of Christianity and Muslim craftsmanship create an architectural masterpiece. Inside you'll find pieces that date back to the Middle Ages. Following the cathedral is a stroll amidst the gardens and colorful plants at the Villa Malfitano. Scenic Palermo and Marionettes Museum

After a quick 15 minute motor coach drive, you'll find ourself at the Museo Internazionale Delle Marionette Antonio Pasqualino. Established in 1975, this museum is dedicated to preserving the Sicilian traditon of marionette puppet theater. This museum has over 3500 items and is considered one of the world's most comprehensive collections. The Guiseppe Leggio Library features 3000 books detailing the history of this art form. A highlight of this visit is the demonstration of puppetry and impromptu show that will take place during your hour long tour of the museum.

Next you'll cross nearby Favorita Park, the royal estate of Bourbon that reaches the fishing village and seaside resort at Mondello. You'll drive back along the streets of Palermo where you'll enjoy a guided tour of the "old city." Your tour conductor will point out such landmarks as the 19th century Teatro Politeama, Teatro Massino, the statues at the Quattro Canto and the outstanding Palermo Cathedral. Palermo and Ballaro Market

Your air-conditioned motor coach will whisk you to Palermo's "old city." Old City and Monreale

Erice and Segesta

Stand in the shadows of the past during a visit to the ancient Temple and Theatre at Segesta, and the medieval village of Erice.

Depart on a 90-minute air-conditioned motor coach ride to the ancient city of Segesta, southwest of Palermo, which was founded over 2,500 years ago by King Acestes (according to Virgil's Aeneid). Once there, explore the majestic 5th-century Temple perched high on a hilltop just outside the city. Although unfinished, the Temple's wonderfully preserved state makes it one of the most important Hellenic temples in the world. From there, stroll the grounds of the equally impressive Theatre, which dominates the top of Monte Barbarò. Occupying a semi-circle area cut out of rock, this ancient stage offers spectaculars views as far as Monte Erice.

After your 75-minute visit at Segesta, take in the impressive sights of the inimitable Italian countryside as you make your way to Trapani. Upon arrival, soar high in the sky aboard a cable-car to the Sicilian town of Erice. Here, legend has it; the son of Venus and Poseidon established the town and built a temple to honor his mother, the goddess of love, nearly 10 centuries ago. Surrounded by cyclopean walls and housing more than 60 churches, Erice brims with a wondrous atmosphere of an old medieval village. From its perch, Erice offers beautiful views of Trapani and the Aegadian Islands. Enjoy a traditional southern Italian lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the picturesque gulf before following your guide for a walking tour throughout the cobblestone streets and narrow lanes of this medieval village. During your stroll, savor the taste of marzipan fruit for which Erice is famous.
