Art of Animation Resort Description
Disney will soon be opening their 26th resort, a new 2,000 room property themed around the history of Disney Animation. Disney’s “Art of Animation” resort will open in stages beginning in May of 2012 and will feature 1,120 family suites as well as 864 standard rooms all themed around the Disney animated classics “Finding Nemo,” “Cars,” "The Little Mermaid" and “The Lion King”. Many guests may already be familiar with the location of the newest resort. It will be adjacent to Disney’s Pop Century Resort, in the area that was started several years ago when it was assumed it would be an extension to Pop Century.
The resort will fall into the “value” range (similar to the All Star and Pop Century resorts), but this marks the first time Disney will open a hotel that features mostly family suites. While it may be a ‘value’ resort, it should be noted that the current ‘family suites’ available at Disney’s All Star Music routinely command an average nightly rate that is usually more than double the cost of a standard room. A room at Disney’s All Star Music during value season is listed at $82 per night, where a family suite starts at $190. Depending on the popularity of these new suites, the availability of 1,120 new ones could drive the price down – but it could also drive the price up. This remains to be seen.
The Little Mermaid buildings will house 864 rooms, themed after the sea, and will be similar to the rooms at the existing value resorts.
1,120 family suites will be divided between The Lion King, Cars, and Finding Nemo buildings. These suites will each sleep six guests and will have a kitchenette, 2 bathrooms, a master bedroom and 3 separate sleeping areas. One new feature will be the "Inovabed" - a table that converts to a bed in seconds.
In addition to the themed buildings, there will 4 courtyards at the resort - each one inspired by the four films represented here. Each courtyard will feature icons and sculptures for kids to play with and around. The Finding Nemo courtyard will be the home for a children's splash area.
Like the other value resorts, there will be a main pool with a pool bar, as well as two quiet pool areas.
This food court is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Choose from four food stations, featuring a selection of pizza, pasta, American burgers, salads, sandwiches, and international offerings. A "Grab 'n Go" market is also available.Located near the food court will be an arcade, merchandise location and airline check-in counters.
