As a Disney travel planner who gives stroller advice to families all the time, forgetting my own stroller on a recent trip to Walt Disney World was…humbling.
We arrived at the Contemporary, started unloading everything, and suddenly realized our stroller was very much not with us.
Not ideal.
After a brief moment of panic (and me laughing at myself for making the exact mistake I warn clients about), we decided to try Disney World stroller rental for the day.
And honestly? The entire process was shockingly easy.
I fully expected it to feel inconvenient and like a temporary solution we’d regret by lunchtime. Instead, it ended up being one of the easiest Disney pivots we’ve ever made, and I’d absolutely do it again in the right situation.
If you’re debating whether renting a stroller at Disney World is worth it, here’s exactly how it worked and what surprised me most.
Why I Ended Up Renting a Disney World Stroller
This wasn’t some carefully planned experiment.
We simply forgot our stroller.
My husband was staying at my mom’s house in Davenport and was able to bring our regular stroller after work, so we only needed a stroller rental for one park day.
That day ended up including both Magic Kingdom and an after-hours Moonlight Magic event at Animal Kingdom, which accidentally gave me a great test of how the rental process works across multiple parks.
Spoiler: it was much easier than I expected.

How Disney World Stroller Rental Works
At Magic Kingdom, we simply walked up to the stroller rental location right near the front of the park.
The entire process took less than five minutes.
We paid for the stroller, and Cast Members gave us:
- a stroller tag with our name on it
- a receipt for the day
The name tag attaches to your stroller so you can easily identify it.
When you leave the park, you return your stroller before exiting. One important thing to know: Disney’s stroller rentals are for in-park use only, so you can’t take them back to your resort, onto Disney transportation, or outside the park gates.
Keeping your receipt is essential because it allows you to rent another stroller at a different Disney park later that same day without paying again.
This ended up being incredibly helpful because after we left Magic Kingdom, we headed to Animal Kingdom for a Moonlight Magic event.
Even though regular park hours had already ended, stroller rentals were still open for event guests. We simply showed our receipt and grabbed another stroller.

Stroller Rental Pricing
Pricing is always subject to change, but at the time of writing this article, Disney’s stroller rental pricing is:
Single stroller:
$15 per day
$13 per day for multi-day rentals
Double stroller:
$31 per day
$27 per day for multi-day rentals
We rented a double stroller because I had both kids with me.
My daughter was one at the time and obviously needed it, but what surprised me most was how much my older son benefited from it too.
He had just turned four and normally doesn’t use a stroller anymore, but having the option to sit down when he got tired or cranky made a huge difference. It also helped us move much faster across the parks when everyone started hitting that afternoon wall.
What Surprised Me About the Disney Stroller Itself
I expected the stroller itself to be the biggest downside. It actually wasn’t.
First, it pushed much easier than I expected.
Second, my kids are both very tall for their ages, and they still fit comfortably side-by-side in the double stroller.
And despite it not being nearly as comfortable as the stroller we use at home, neither of my kids complained once.
That said, there are a few limitations.
The biggest one is that these strollers do not recline, which makes them a much harder option if your child still naps in the stroller regularly.
The stroller also has very limited storage, so keep that in mind if you usually rely on your stroller basket for bags, snacks, souvenirs, or extra gear.
And one random tip I wish someone had told me sooner: the stroller wheel lock is located underneath the stroller.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure that out.
(You can see exactly what I mean in the photo below)

When a Disney World Stroller Rental Makes Sense
After trying it myself, I think Disney stroller rentals make a lot of sense for families who:
- forgot their stroller (hi, it happens)
- don’t want to travel with a stroller through the airport
- have older kids who may need occasional breaks
- only need a stroller for park days
- want a simple backup option
I probably wouldn’t recommend Disney stroller rentals if your child still depends heavily on stroller naps or if you need significant storage throughout the day.
But for many families, this is a much better option than people realize.
Final Thoughts: Is a Disney World Stroller Rental Worth It?

For us? Absolutely.
Would I choose it over my own stroller every single trip? Probably not.
But what I thought would feel like a stressful mistake ended up being a really easy solution.
The rental process was fast. The same-day transfer between parks was seamless. My kids were happy. And it solved a problem that could have completely derailed our day.
And maybe my biggest takeaway?
Even Disney travel planners forget things sometimes. 😅
