At Disney's Old Key West Resort,
the main pool area is located behind Olivia's Café and is
open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. You will find a hot tub and sauna
here as well. For the children, there is a children's wading pool
and a sandy playground. There are three other pools spread throughout
the resort and pool towels are available at all pool areas. There
are no lifeguards on the premises, but flotation devices are available,
free of charge, at Hank's Rent 'n Return. Note that diaper-age children
are required to wear plastic pants or swim diapers. There is a white
sand beach with a volleyball court, along the Trumbo Canal, but
swimming is not allowed.
Rentals of watercraft such
as pontoon boats, canopy boats, pedal boats and water bikes are
available from 10 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. A 3-mile long path winds
its way from the streets of Disney's Old Key West Resort into the
forest, over canals, past the golf course and over to the Disney
Institute. Guests can jog or rent bicycles, including the ever-popular
Surrey bikes, for use along the path. These are offered at Hank's
Rent 'n Return from 9 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
A basketball court, shuffleboard,
2 arcades (Electric Eel Gameroom and at Turtle Krawl, the Flying
Fisherman) and the R.E.S.T. (Recreation, Exercise, Swimming and
Tennis) Beach Recreation Department fitness center is open daily
from 6:30 a.m. to midnight. Youths 17 and under must be accompanied
by an adult here. Available free of charge to guests of the Walt
Disney World ® Resort, this fitness center features Nautilus,
Lifecycle, Lifestep, treadmills and free weights. Massages are available
at Slappy Joe's for a fee and are available by appointment only
between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. The cost is $35/half hour
or $65/hour (prices subject to change).
Three tennis courts are available
for tennis lovers. Two courts are lighted for night play. Equipment
is available to rent for those in need. If relaxing with a video
appeals to you after a busy day in the parks, videos are available
at Community Hall. There is a charge for rentals for non-DVC members
but video rentals are free to DVC members. Community Hall also offers
board games, playing cards, table tennis and nightly movies. Nothing
to do on a rainy day? Head over to Community Hall to see what's
planned for the day. "Hank's Happenings", a newsletter
you receive at check-in, will list other daily activities for guests
to participate in. Trivia contests, Goofy Bingo and mini-putt golf
are a few of the offerings.
