St. Lucia Shore Excursions

St. Lucia is part of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles and is centrally located in the Eastern Caribbean. The principle language is English, although French, Spanish and Kwéyòl, St. Lucia ’s second language, is commonly heard. The island is 27 miles long, 14 miles wide and totals 238 sq. miles. The terrain is varied with a central mountain range that runs the length of St. Lucia. The hills are dominated by forests, with jasmine and wild orchids providing brilliant bursts of color in the lush garden setting. Cascading waterfalls are part of this tropical paradise. There are two volcanic peaks on the southwest coast, Gros Piton and Petit Piton. These two natural wonders are Caribbean landmarks. St. Lucia’s unique topography offers an opportunity to experience the world’s only “drive-in volcano.” This region is also home to the Sulphur Springs, renowned for its therapeutic healing powers. St. Lucia is also known for its beautiful white sand beaches. The eastern side has the waves of the Atlantic breaking on the shore, while the eastern side is fronted by the serene Caribbean Sea. The crystal clear waters of this tropical paradise are perfect for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. St. Lucia is rich in history. Its culture is a blend of Native, European and African influences. Agriculture and fishing are important pursuits. The result is a cuisine that combines the freshest of tropical ingredients. 4 x 4 Beach Trek (4-4.5 hours)
Prepare for a 4 wheeling adventure touring the lesser known highlights of St. Lucia. Your scenic drive will take you through picturesque villages to the beautiful Atlantic Coast. During your tour you'll stop at "The Farm" for a bit of relaxation and refreshments. From here, your drive continues along the hilly terrain where you'll enjoy panoramic views of this beautiful island. You'll visit a secluded beach where you'll be able to enjoy a refreshing swim in the ocean. While enjoying your hour swimming and sunning in the Atlantic, you'll be served complimentary rum punch and soft drinks

Tropical Waterfall Experience
Cascading water, lush landscapes and tropical wildlife combine to make this tour a one of a kind experience. You'll begin with an 80 minute journey to the village of Soufriere. Along the way, your driver will point out the historic sites and provide fascinating insights of the culture of St. Lucia. Your next stop is the Toraille Waterfall. The crystal clear water tumbles down a 50 foot cliff into the beautiful, natural pool below. You're welcome to take a refreshing swim in the cooling water or to simply stroll around. While enjoying this bit of paradise, you'll find knowledgeable park guides to assist you. From here you'll visit the Morne Coubaril Estate, a re-creation of a working plantation. No doubt you'll have wonderful memories to share as you make your 80 minute return trip back to the ship.

Cruise to the Pitons (4-4.5 hours)
The magnificent Piton Mountains are your destination on this scenic excursion. You'll depart on a 90 minute cruise to the majestic Pitons. Along the way, youll enjoy views of quaint villages and notable St. Lucia landmarks. You'll cruise around the Pitons and Jalousie Bay and embark on a 90 minute voyage to Anse Cochon where you'll swim and relax at a secluded bay. From here,you'll cruise in and around Marigot Bay before your 45 minute voyage back to the ship.

Scuba Diving (4 - 4.5 hours)
PADI professional divers will accompany you on an unforgettable underwater exploration. You'll take a leisurely 30 minutes cruise along the Western shore of St. Lucia. Upon reaching the Soufriere Marine Reserve, you'll explore the amazing coral gardens which are home to an incredible variety of aquatic life. This is a two tank dive which may include either a wall dive or a wreck. Proof of current Diver Certification is required. Each dive will last approximately 35 minutes with a one hour break between dives during which refreshments will be served.

St. Lucia Golf & Country Club (6 - 6.5 hours)
In just 20 minutes, youll be on the fairway of this beautiful course. You can either bring your own clubs or rent them to tee up for 18 holes of golf. This par 71 course features a front nine for straight hitters and a back nine designed for long shots. This challenging course has magnificent views that provide the perfect backdrop to your day on the links.

Horseback Riding Adventure (3 - 3.5. hours)
You'll be taken on a 30 minute motor coach ride to the Belle Cheval Stables. Once here, you'll receive instructions while having your riding ability assessed. A carefully trained horse will be selected for you and you'll begin your excursion. Helpful guides will accompany you for the two hours you'll spend traversing the terrain. Your outing includes a visit to the beach. While here, you can either ride your horse along the waters edge or go for a swim. It's your choice as you enjoy an unforgettable day in paradise riding a magnificent steed.

Island Delight (5.5 - 6 hours)
You'll spend the day touring the beautiful island of St. Lucia. You'll visit Sulphur Springs and experience a 30 minute tour of the world's only drive-in volcano. Next will be a 40 minute tour of the lovely Diamond Botanical Gardens, Waterfall and Mineral Baths. Your next stop is a 30 minutes visit at The Still Beach Front where you'll enjoy refreshments. A 70 minute ride to Marigot Bay is next followed by a 25 minute trip back to the ship. You'll have wonderful memories to share as you return to the ship on Castries.

Sea & Land Adventures at Pigeon Island (3.5 hours)
Kayaks, snorkeling and swimming combine to make this an unforgettable adventure. Your day begins with a 20 minute ride to a quiet beach on the north side of St. Lucia. You'll receive instructions in kayaking and from there you're on your way to Pigeon Island National Park. As you paddle along during this 30 minute segment, you'll pass the quaint fishing village of Gros Islet, as well as luxury homes and deluxe resorts. When you arrive at Pigeon Island, refreshments are served. The following hour is yours to enjoy either by swimming, snorkeling or kayaking in the crystal clear water. If you like, you can visit the interpretive center where you'll learn of the island's history and natural wonders. There's a gift shop where you can purchase the perfect souvenir. If you enjoy scenic beauty, you may choose to visit Fort Rodney. The return trip from Pigeon Island is 20 minutes in length.

St. Lucia Rain Forest Jungle Trail (6 - 7 hours)
Put on your hiking shoes as you prepare to explore St. Lucia's tropical treasures. The first part of the excursion is a 45 minute ride to the scenic overlooks at Fond d'Or and Dennery Village. Next is a 1.5 hour ride to the Mahout Des Cartier Trail. When you arrive at the Trail, a 1.5 hour hike follows. Amidst the lush foliage you may spot a Jacquot, St. Lucia's colorful national bird. After your hike, a picnic buffet is served. Following your feast is a 45 minute ride to the La Tille Estate. This slice of paradise is located along the banks of the Mahout River. Your 30 minute visit includes tasting the renowned coconut water and an opportunity to cool off at the river's waterfall. From here you'll depart on your 1 hour ride back to the ship.

Snorkel Delight (3.5 - 4 hours)
You'll spend the day immersed in underwater splendor on this exciting excursion. This tour begins with a 45 minute boat ride along the beautiful shoreline of St. Lucia. When you arrive at the prime snorkeling spot, the expert staff will provide you with the equipment as well as instructions for its use. You'll have two glorious hours to explore the coral reefs and the abundance of colorful marine life living in its environs. When its time to return, you'll enjoy a refreshing beverage during your 45 minute voyage back to the ship.

Sugar Mill St. Lucian Rhythms (4 - 5 hours)
You'll get three tours for the price of one on this fun excursion. A short ride brings you to St. Marks. This colonial style estate is set high in the hillside, offering spectacular views. Following this delightful visit is a 45 minute ride to the 18th century La Sikwi Sugar Mill located in the picturesque fishing village of Anse La Raye. While listening to the rhythms of an authentic Shak-Shak band, you'll be treated to hors d'oeuvres, rum punch and luscious tropical fruits. Part three of your journey awaits. After a 45 minute ride yo'll find yourself at the River Rock Waterfall. You'll have 40 minutes to enjoy its cooling water and you'll also stop at Marigot Bay. If there's a sense of déjà vu, its because this scenic spot is often used as the tropical backdrop for major motion pictures. A show at the Animation Center and Museum is yours to enjoy before returning to the ship.

Waterfall Island Bike Tour (4 - 4.5 hours)
This is the perfect excursion for those who prefer the unconventional. You'll hop on your bike and pedal your way past St. Lucia's rainforest, banana plantations until you reach the Sault Falls, one of the highest waterfalls on the island. Here you'll have 20 minutes to enjoy the cooling waters of the natural pool. Along the way, your guides will point out areas of interest, with an emphasis on the island's agriculture. There's an abundance of coffee, cocoa, nutmeg and cinnamon. You'll cycle 45 minutes back to where you began your journey. Please note that there are a few gentle inclines on this tour.

St. Lucia Beach Getaway (4 hours)
.A brief 20 minute ride brings you to one of St. Lucia's noted beaches. Here you'll have two and half hours to enjoy the sun and surf. Comfort is yours as you lounge on the beach chair shaded by an umbrella. The views of Rodney Bay are outstanding and there's a restaurant nearby where you can enjoy tropical fruit and a refreshing beverage.

Caribbean Pirate Extravaganza (4.5 hours)
YO HO!! You're off on a sailing adventure aboard the Brig Unicorn, a 19th century ship featured in Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean." You'll sail to Pigeon Island and visit historic Fort Rodney. You can swim, explore or hike as you imagine yourself as the next Captain Jack Sparrow. Snacks, soft drinks and rum punch are served during the sailing back to the harbor.

Rainforest Canopy Adventure (4.5 hours)
This is for the high fliers. You'll head out on a 50 minute drive to the Errard Estate. Here you can explore the beautiful surroundings either on foot or on the ziplines that are 43 feet above ground. For 90 minutes you can "zip" from one platform to the next during this exhilarating adventure. Afterwards there's a 20 minutes refreshment break before the 50 minute ride back to the ship.
